DVD growisofs & qic files

I am trying to burn a windows98 backup file to DVD . I have had good results on most files and formats with mkisofs -o **** -R **** to create an iso image and burning that with growisofs -Z .
The backup.qic file gets turned into an iso image of around the correct size 3.7Gb however growisofs only ends up with a 15.8Mb file on the DVD+RW and no messages that anything went wrong . Formatting / blanking or new DVD media has the same result . I have burnt iso's of that size before. What is it with qic files that growisofs doesn't like ? Has anyone else had this ?
