I've tried both file2divx3pass and dvd2divx3pass. I've gotten file2divx3pass to encode a single vob file, but It will say done encoding instantly if I select the whole DVD folder (and I want single avi file output, not 10 (1 per vob file). Dvd2divx3pass is suppose to be able to do this (encode dvds already ripped to hard disk). It will scan the dvd successfully (the device is the dvd dir), but when I go to encode it It finishes instantly and does nothing. What is wrong? Is there a better app that encodes already ripped dvds? Also, is there a way to use atleast divx5 (both of these apps only support divx4); I would like to use the best codec possible. Thanks for your help.

until now I've been using dvd::rip ripping vob files from the hard disk with no problem, now about the divx supports everything that transcode does like
divx4, divx5, xvid, xvidcvs, ffmpeg, fame, opendivx and mpeg2enc
