Applications, not drivers (perhaps)

The chances are pretty close to certain that all of the hardware drivers you need are already installed. You may be lacking some application and perhaps the deCSS library to decrypt the movie.

If you haven't already configured your software sources (see the "Mandrake Control Center" Media Manager) to include the plf packages you need then the easiest way is to go to http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ and follow the instructions there. It will probably be enough to add the plf free and non-free plus the contrib sources.

Once that is set up you should be able to fire up the Software Packages Installation wizard in the "Control Center" and pick your application software. The plf versions of Xine or Mplayer would be a good place to start. Kaffeine is also quite nice. If necessary (I cannot remember if it is automatically pulled in as a dependency) you can also select libdvdcss2-1.2.9-1.1.102plf. With that little lot on board the rest should be easy. Just putting a dvd in the drive should start Kaffeine and display your movie.

If not, note any errors you get and come back here.

I find that installing win32codecs and xine-win32 once I've setup the PLF repo usually gets DVDs playing. Failing that just install libdvdcss.

I don't get the same response, the dvds play fine after installng libdvdcss2. What application are you using to play dvds?

I just checked on my machine which has the DVD player - it also has a package called libdvdread3 installed.

On my 2005LE machine:
Code:
rpm -qa | grep -i dvd
dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-2mdk
libdvdread3-0.9.4-5mdk
dvdbackup-0.1.1-1mdk
dvdshrink-2.6.1-2mdk
k3b-dvd-0.11.20-7mdk
Video-DVDRip-0.52.3-1plf
dvdauthor-0.6.11-2mdk
libdvdcss2-1.2.8-3plf
Note that dvdshrink isn't in the repositories anywhere. Its at http://dvdshrink.sourceforge.net/, dvd playing worked fine for a long time before I installed it. Anyway you might find this list useful - install them and one of them might pull whatever you need in as a dependency.
