dvd decryptor and dvd shrink


does anyone know of linux programs that can what these do? I am using FC5

They work fine on FC5 under WINE.

yum -y install wine

Then just run the installer.

I use K9Copy for backing up my DVDs. It will make an .iso image of the DVD and resize it to 4.4gigs. Then just use your burner of choice.

Most people just use DVD Shrink and DVD Decryptor via wine (windows emulater layer)

Just to clarify, WINE is not an emulator, any more than a Windows DLL is an emulator. It is a set of libraries (DLLs in Windows-speak), that respond to Windows system calls and execute the equivalent Linux function.

While emulation is a slow process because instructions have to be simulated one by one, WINE can frequently be faster than running the software on Windows. This is possible because many Linux functions are higher performance implementations than the Windows equivalent (not surprising considering the age of the Windows XP code base).
