DVD burning question

I've looked at similar threads on this forum, and unfortunately they haven't been of any use due to Windows-like behavior on the part of my system.

I'm running Gentoo 2006.0, using GNOME as my default window manager. I used to use and like KDE back in my RedHat days, but now I'm finding it too slow compared to GNOME. I've tried some of the DVD burning software reccomended in other threads here, to no avail.

K3B: It's very nice. I like it a lot. What I don't like is this, which I get every time I try to do anything with it, or even if I open it, and then immediately close it without doing anything.

xcdroast: I'm sure it would be very nice if I could figure out how to use it. It looks like it'll let me add directories, but not files, and I still have a stage 3 tarball in / that I'd like to add to my system backup.

graveman!: Beautiful, easy to use, and doesn't crash....until I try to burn something, then it gives useful error messages like "Operation failed."

All in all, I'm exquisitely tempted to mount my whole / partition as a samba share and just burn my backup in Windows, since my Gentoo install is acting like a Microsoft product anyways.

well you need to give us useful information if you want useful repsonses... for example, you have another tab on that crash notice.. what does it say about where that occurred?

K3B is very nice, but I've found that new updates are sometimes rather broken. If this is the newest version you're using, you may want to try stepping back a version or two and see if it doesn't clear up the crashes for you.
