DVD burning

Inm sure this question has been asked before but i have not really been able to find a satisfying answer. is there a tool or more than one tool to handle most of ones dvd burning needs? for instance i use dvd shrink and dvd remake to shrink down movies to fit one one dvd disc without having to compress the quailty. is there anything for linux that will do this. I have tried using both of them with wine but i cant get them to work. i just want a straight yes or no answer if there is anything for linux so i wont keep looking for something similar if there isnt.

Yes.

However, at this time it probably requires you to get your hands a little dirty. For shrinking DVDs, one user recently posted a thread showing step-by-step how to shrink a video down to fit on a smaller DVD. He's also working on a shell script to automate some of it, which may make it easier for the general user. Just to clear up any misconceptions - shrinking a dual-layer commercial DVD down to fit on a single-layer recordable DVD will reduce quality (unless you're just picking and choosing the portions of the larger DVD that you want to keep).

But as for finding a full-featured program similar to DVD-Shrink for Windows, as far as I know that has not arrived for Linux yet. Soon, I hope :)

I've written a few little utilities for things like video conversion, making DVD menus and stuff. Get it on sourceforge.

Here's an "unofficial tutorial" that I posted a little while back to make DVD Shrink work in linux through wine. Different people have had varying degrees of success, but it seems to have been helpful to many people.

Good luck whichever route you decide to take.
