DVD backup software?
I just bought an HP DVD writer and am kind of lost when it comes to finding a good Linux program for backing up my DVD's. Is there any programs out there that anyone knows of that can compress DVD images down to 4.7GB or even just taking the actual movie sequences from the disc for burning onto a 4.7GB disk.
Thanks!

tough to find
After about a month of searching I finally backed up a DVD using linux. The software is pretty much in it's infancy and you will not find a nice gui program like dvdshrink for windows. The best method I have found is a non english program called lxdvd rip with it's associated dependant programs (dvdbackup streamdvd etc.). You will need to change the default language to english in lxdvd.conf to understand what's going on.

Have you tried k3b. Its probably the best CD/DVD copy/writing program that currently exists.

hmm
An amazingly unhelpfull answer since K3b does not support DVD transcoding of any kind.
