Wink Dvd Authoring

HI

I was just wondering what most people are using and finding reliable for dvd authoring.

What I want to do is to convert my vhs videos to DVD. I would like to rip them fix the sound and picture quality up (if possible) and then create menu's for the DVd and it goes without saying burn the dvd.

If you have found a good method to do this I would love to know .

Cheers

fleb

Is Myth TV supposed to be the main tool to do this with? I have found Dvdstyler and tovid, possibly DVDauthor, what is the best?

MythTV is not involved in DVD authoring. MythTV is used for television capturing, recording, and playback with tv-tuner cards and the like.

I have a problem with my tovid gui program. It seems to be written in python and it says that it can't import the "pickle" module. Any ideas?

Whats the difference between mencoder and transcode is one better ?

I ended up using mencoder, mainly because I found a good example in the docs easily. So I used this format to convert avi to mpeg2

Quote:
mencoder /home/flebber/Skid_Row.avi -of mpeg -mpegopts format=mpeg2:tsaf:muxrate=2000 -o /home/flebber/Video/Skid_Row.mpg -oac lavc -ovc lavc \ -lavcopts acodec=mp2:abitrate=224:vcodec=mpeg2video:vbitrate=1152:keyint=15:mbd=2:aspect=4/3

But its very early in the morning here, I must sleep, if anyone would care to give me a clue as to what went wrong I would much appreciate it. Oh my error, the picture was only one green line on a black background.
