DVD's play with lines?

When I play a DVD through Xine, I get lines in the picture.

I've got a screenshot.

Another screenshot, but no motion (except the counters)

It only seems to happen when things are in motion, on a normal DVD player (with a TV) It doesnt do this.

Is this just how they play on linux?
