What software are you using to create the text file?

Normally this is to create a safe backup should anything go wrong, as well as an easy to find file in case of accidental permissions issues (you didn't have permission to write to the file, but don't wanna retype everything, login as priv'd user, and copy the file over).

Cool

It is not a duplicate, it is a backup...that is, it is the file in the state before you edited it.
