Duel Booting....*sigh*...yeah

Well. I thought i would be rid of windows forever-not so :(.

I love Linux alot. best thing to happen to me (tech world at least) since i was aloud to touch a computer (9th grade).

It's just that i am trying to start a business as a 1)Web Designer and 2)Web Host. the web host thing is handeled, its the designing thing that gets me.

I need to use photoshop for my graphics. that's just it. period. I have crossover office, but i want to be able to run photoshop at its highest speed and to it's fullest potential.

Another program(s) i need to run is Macromedia Studio. Up until now i've been using....somewhat non-good editions of these programs.

I've decided that it's enough of that, and if i'm going to get things going good, i need to do things right. That includes buying these programs (which i've already done) and using them on the platform(s) that they were meant for.

So, until i can save the money for a good mac, i am XP enabled :( any advice for someone who has to temporarily duel boot?

I'm not sure that I understand what your
actual question is ...

Would you like to know how to set the machine
up for dual-booting? It's not a big deal to do so,
you'll need at least three partitions:
1. WinXP
2. Linux
3. Linux Swap

And once you've bought your Mac you can
just change the eXPeriment-partition's type
to 83 with fdisk and format it with your preferred
journaling filesystem, and reuse it for Linux.

If you want higher performance in Linux once
you're done you might want to buy a second
HDD, put it on the second controller, and when
finished with the fisher-price-edition of the evil
OS move /home, /tmp and /usr/lib over to the
other HDD :) - maybe add another swapper on
the "spare" HDD.

Cheers,
Tink
