Talking Dual Booting Environment With Windows and Linux

Hi Friends,

When configuring a dual booting environment with Linux and Windows, I am aware that if you mistakenly install Linux first and then Windows, Windows will hide Linux.

How do you remove the MBR for Windows?

Thanks

Ivory

You have to reinstall grub, which you can do from a recovery disk, your install disk, or by painstakingly going over the HDD platters with a small magnet.

You should realize that this is one of the most asked questions and LQ has a search function.

We really MUST add this to the recent thread on forgotten skills......

All seriousness aside, Windows does not "hide" Linux--it simply installs it's own bootloader.

See the "booting" link below--also search here for "Saikee" and look in his sig.

... what? Using the search function, reinstalling GRUB, or... oh, the magnet thing, right. Well - it's 2am and I've got this Shub-Niggurath Spawn of a cold so I can't sleep.

I'd forgotten about Saikee's sig, a one-being encyclopedia. You know, some day that sig is gonna change to a reference to usinc rockets to dispose of used diapers, and future searchers will find your comment and look for Saikee and discover...
