Dual Booting Database engine

Hi,

Until recently, I have been working on developing a databse front end in Java on a windoze platform. For development purposes, I've used M$ Access to provide the back-end.

Ok, now I've installed Debian on my laptop and am dual-booting the system. I have a partition set up as FAT32 / vfat which is mounted under both OSs in order to share data.

What I need to do is to install a database engine under both OSs which will share the data files. I'm thinking MySQL unless anyone has an alternative suggestion.

Ultimately, I need the app to launch on either platform and access the data (same data).

Can anyone advise how to set this up, please?

Many thanks.

Paul
