dual boot slackware and xp
 
previously, i installed xp then slackware on my laptop. it was working fine. yesterday, i reinstalled xp, and the linux does not boot anymore, i can't boot linux and change boot file again, i have tried change xp boot.ini, but it always said hdl.dll doesn't exit or got corrupted. xp can boot and work fine. could someone please tell me how to change my xp boot file to have a dual boot please?

use your slackware install cd #2 (i use number 2 but i heard you can use #1) and boot up your slackware install... one you are in just run /sbin/lilo as root (cd #2 will show you how to boot your slackware install, you just need to know what hd your install is on :)

Post your boot.ini here so we can see what's wrong with it (if something is wrong with it)

You can also try installing a real boot loader like GRUB :P

Reinstalling Windows will overwrite your Master Boot Record (MBR). If you originally had installed lilo to the MBR with Slack, the XP reinstall killed it. In order to restore it, you just need to rerun the lilo program, as spec6635 has described. -- J.W.
