ds: no socket drivers loaded

I am trying to compile a 2.4* kernel. I am getting this error at boot, ds: no socket drivers loaded. I think I read that this is because I need to compile support under networking. I can't seem to find where this is using "make menuconfig" Any help would be appreciated.
