drivers nvidia for xserver package question

I have some trouble getting the Nvidia drivers for TNT2 card to work. I saw there was a tutorial on this site which took some different steps than I did (going to try them as well).

I apted the nvidia-kernel-src and nvidia-glx-src from and installed them. According to the package that should make the binary driver, is that the module that should be loaded into the kernel? Cause looking at other XF86Config-4 scripts the driver name is nvidia. With that name I get the error that the module doesn't exist. Do I need to download the nvidia drivers next to this or am I missing it (the description says it makes the driver so I shouldn't have to download from the nvidia site anymore)

because this was about the software and barely about the hardware I found it more appropriate to post here but feel free to move if it's the wrong forum
