driver sk98lin for eth card compiles with unresolved symbols
i'm having some issues getting the network driver for my new asus p5gdc-v deluxe board to work. i'm trying to run mandrake 9.2 on it.
i downloaded the latest version (7.09) from syskonnect. i then followed the instruction in the readme and it seemed that the driver was generated as expected. at least there were no errors or fails anywhere. however, at the end of the logfile it does say 'check the driver'. but no other info. and i don't know where to check
the interface starts up but is unable to see anything. the HW is tested ok.
so i then tried to put in an intel e1000 card. compiled the driver, and that's when it said that
unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.22-10mdk/kernel/driers/net/sk98lin/sk98lin.o
what does it mean? how can i check what the problem is? how are the two drivers related? can this be resolved by using the latest kernel? if so, how do i upgrade the kernel in my system?
the network part should be ok cause i've made entries in /etc/modules.conf, and configured the interfaces. so i think this is a driver issue.
i know i have many questions but i'd just like to understand what is going on, and how it can be fixed.
newbie getting frustrated. any help is appreciated. tnx,
T
