drive mappings via group?


Is there a way in samba to map a user to a certain share based off his group membership? other than manipulating the u parameter i dont know any other way to do it. thanks

I don't know about forcing share mappings, but you can give access to shares based on group membership. If a share has the following in its smb.conf entry, then the members of the group "users" can access it:

valid users = @users
Was that what you wanted to do?

That is not what we're trying to accomplish.

Something simple like

if user group = finance
map f:\\server\finance
else if user group = users
map h:\\server\main-share
else if user group = principals
map p:\\server\principals

can this be achieved somehow?
