Drive Image Copy w/Mandrake 9.1?
Hi all,
I just installed Mandrake 9.1 and it's running like a champ. Now the configuration fun begins. Before I start however I think it might be a good idea to make and image copy of everything on the hard drive. It's a dual boot system (win2k, win2k+3, and my new adorable little ffriend, Linux Mandrake 9.1) on 10GB drive. QUESTION: Does Mandrake 9.1 have the capability to make hard drive image copies? If so can you point me in the direction of the documentation or other some hints? Thanx in advance, Fazdoo:Pengy: |
fazdoo,
Look at your documentation for DI and see if it supports the file system type that you are using on mndrk 9.1. If it does then, yes you will be able to image the linux drive. I use 'Acronis True-Imagev6.0'; it supports all the linux fs's, including ext2 & 3 and reiserfs. It has saved my slack-9 HD several times(grin). BC |
if your talking about imaging your drive you can use Norton Ghost 2002 or higher.

It depends on what fs you're using i.e. NGhost does not support the reiserfs and it's slower than "smoke off sh*t" and Ghost also has to reboot to do the image.
Another thing about Ghost, if you let Linux format your drive even if you made the ext2 or 3 with PMagic, it will not do the image. BC |
Use dd to make binary images of your drives... Read the man!
