I use Debian Woody, and i did:

$modprobe

I inserted the drm module for direct rendering and i suppose agpart.

I modified a bit XF86Config-4 ( as in page 1 i suppose ).

I restarted x.

Now my radeon 7000 sdr 64 works better. With glxgears i obtain, @ 1024x768 16 bit per pixel, a frame rate of 494 ( is it good??? For 3 gears i don't think.. )

can someone have a direct chat with me who knows how to do it to explain it step by step? I may even be downloading the wrong file

I have a Mandrake 9.1 with an ati Radeon 8500 LE
(I have Xfree 4.3 too)

To say the thruth i installed nothing ( better: i downloaded nothing ). The ati drivers for Xfree4.1 ( debian still use this one ) were on the first cd.
