dreamweaver - substitute?

i have gotten Dreamweaver working in wine. however, it seems a bit slow running that way and plus, in my efforts to switch to Linux I would rather use as much Linux-related technology as possible.

i like the Dreamweaver IDE, but don't use many of the features. however, what I definitely NEED from a web development IDE is to directly connect to an FTP server and edit the files on that server. Dreamweaver has this feature.

is there any Linux web dev IDE out there that will connect to FTP in a way similar to Dreamweaver?

if the ftp has some sort of authentication mechanism against who you are currently logged in as, then it should be doable with an app like Quanta+ (definitely not feature-filled, but is good for the average user)
