Drawing straight lines in Gnuplot

Hi there. I know how to draw lines when the coordinates are part of the external data file. I need a command to put into a gnu file (e.g. graph1.gnu) to draw a line. I cannot find a command like this. It is so strange. Why? Thanks, - Alex
