Drawing logic circuits
 

Hi,

I'm trying to draw a logic circuit involving the standard gates and flip-flops, but can't seem to find any program for the task.

I tried xfig, but the UI is so incredibly frustrating as to be unusable (eg. refusing to select lines, at all, despite my clicking pixel by excruciating pixel in the entire vicinity of the object), and so I cannot adapt the library components to my own needs. Dia is good, but has no flip-flops in its logic library and none of my searching has found any for it; similarly for Inkscape.

Please note that I'm not trying to simulate the circuit, just draw it. I'm sure such a tool must exist, but it has so far eluded me.

PS. I'm sure xfig's mum thinks it's cool.

Oh, I tried xcircuit as well, but no flip-flops and... come on, who woke up and thought, "you know what would be a great colour scheme? Red, orange and white... yeah, that'd look great at 3am..." :P

gEDA is specifically for the purpose, or you can use Dia, which has a set of logic and circuit elements for general drawing (like Visio).

gEDA seems promising, but doesn't seem to have the generic sort of components I need -- but I've only been looking for a short time now, so I'll see. Dia doesn't have flip-flops in its library.

Added: No, gEDA doesn't have generic logic components, and doesn't seem to allow the removal of part labels.

Have you tried Logicly Software? It contains all you need in making logic circuits such as standard gates and flip-flops.

Dia has a large library of different "sheets" of symbols, including one for "logic."

In the middle of the Dia toolbox, there is a dialog for selecting the "sheet" of symbols you wish to use.
