Hi everybody!
What might be the analog of Paint in Linux?

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

Give Pinta a try, it's also available in the repositories using the Synaptic package manager.

I really like Kolourpaint. It's similar enough to Paint that a Paint user will be able to figure it out quickly, but with far more options, versatility, and flexibility.

From the LinuxQuestions.org wiki on equivalences, they suggest both TuxpAint and KolourPaint.

ETA: I note Pinta was suggested earlier. I checked on my system what the install size was for the three programs, and Pinta is the smallest, whereas the other two are quite large.

XPaint is good. Minimal, but still very good.

Hi...

Thanks for the heads up on the wiki page, I didn't know that even existed. :)

GIMP but it might be too much, if only for basic editing.
