Dragging and dropping causes 100% cpu spike?

Alrighty, I have never seen this before. I am using xfce on Slackware 12.2.

I open up a thunar window, drag a file to a folder in that same thunar window, and the cpu spikes to 100%, top shows thunar is the hog.

I open xfrun4 window (right-click and click Run Program...), and type "firefox l" as if I am going to linuxquestions.org, and because google was my last firefox entry it will sit there and spike the cpu while it thinks about getting rid of google and putting in an l... top shows xfrun4 as the hog.

Once I get into firefox, i find a page I would like to bookmark, so I drag my address bar to the bookmark toolbar... That was a bad idea, because now firefox-bin is the system hog.

Any ideas on what could possibly be the culprit?

Thanks

I would like to add that the problem is not DMA related, because DMA is enabled on my hard drive, and when this happens there usually is next to none disk usage shown via gkrellm.

Thanks
