Question dpkg: error processing menusupport-kde-corel

While trying to install and then uninstall Corel Paint 9, I created a problem that I can't seem to get rid of. When trying to install or upgrade any package, this is the message I now receive:

Quote:
Removing menusupport-kde-corel ...
chmod: cannot access `/etc/menu-methods/kde-corel-simple': No such file or directory
dpkg: error processing menusupport-kde-corel (--remove):
subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 1
How can I get rid of this problem and then the error message above?

KDE: 3.5.1
Release: 2.6.15-1586tsc
Machine: i686

How about creating a dummy version of the file `/etc/menu-methods/kde-corel-simple' that it's complaining about? It seems to be failing because there's nothing there for it to remove, so maybe if you give it something it'll be able to complete its task.

Thanks, David! It worked.

I created a file at that location. It then transferred the problem to another file. I then created another imitation file at the new location. Once again it transferred the problem to another file. I once again created a dummy link.

After that, the package was successfully removed and I can now upgrade and install programs like I did before.

Thank you for your help.
