Downloading and installing software for mandrake 9.2
Hey, have a couple of questions. Please help the :newbie:
I am trying to install the latest Mozilla browser, Firefox... I have downloaded it and put it into a seperate directory. The Directory is called Downloads, and it is for all my downloads (go figure) I can see the file in there once I save it to there, but I dont know how to run the startup in the files, any help? Thanks Also.. In mandrake 9.2, running KDE, there seems to be no screensavers. I have searched other threads, and I got a couple of sites to download the screensavers. I downloaded some, but again, Don't know how to open them. I can't see them in the Look'n'feel-screensaver menu. Thanks for the help! |
Using mdk 9.2, you should install kde-multimedia package ( supplied with mdk 9.2 )... you will have some screensavers to play with!!

It is a tar.gz file you will have to untar to install. It goes like this:
1. Open a terminal window and cd to the directory the file is in. 2. run the command "tar xvzf -name of file" 3. Run the command "firefox" and there you go |
