I was a big fan of download Accelerator on windows. I went with this program called d4x, download for X. It will do pratically the same thing as download Accelerator, but no ads. I googled it for you for rpms and was able to find:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat....i386.rpm.html

You can always install from source if the rpm doesn't work.
Might want to give it try.

The best I found so far is an app called Downloader For X. But there are thousands of download managers around like KGet (that comes with KDE) and wget (works on the console but has many frontends). Since it is a matter of taste I think you should try them all and choose one that fits you.
Personally I still miss my Flashget :( I still am wrestling with the dlls to get it running with wine.

prozilla is the only project I know of that is looking for mirrors of the things you want to download but that doesn't seem to work. You can do multiple connections with it and also with d4x but if you download from a server with a slow connection that won't help you a thing.

Thanks for that tip on ProZilla, I am going to check that it out. It sounds pretty good.
