Downgrading to X86 v3
This is following it up from the Distorted Fonts thread- I want to install X86 v3 in hopes that it will better work with my graphic hardware but I don't know the procedure and which files specifically to get. I know I don't have to get every v3 file that composes X but it's hard because all automatic updates/upgrades get the latest packages.
Can someone point me in the proper direction of installing only X86 v3 (specifically so that all the old video drivers are present)? |
Which distribution are you running? For some it might be easy to do :)

Debian

woody, sarge or sid?
|
actually it matters only if you are using woody.
On woody just chose the correct server for your hardware and apt-get install. |
check out the apt howto. It should teach you how to install woody's v3 packages.
add: I mean on sarge and sid. |
I tested it. Debconf can't write the config file (on sarge) though. Too lazy and not farmilar with the v3 format to write my own config file. Better be careful if taking this route.
