Doom 3 and NVIDIA

I need some help,
I just bought Doom3 and installed it under Mandranke 10.

I have my video card drivers loaded and all other 3d games I play work fime (UT and Quake) but for some reason doom 3 is very "choppy". I installed it under windows and run very fast (for 15 minutes and then crashed....windows...what's new!!!!)

what am I missing ?

You need to give some info about your box, like kernel number and video card info. My first guess without any info is to install a non-vanilla kernel, like a ck (Con Kolivas) kernel. Ck kernels have patches that improve gaming performance and desktop responsiveness. But I've heard many people complain about poor Doom 3 performance on Linux. I've played the demo and you might just have to put the settings on low.

I read an interview with on of the programmers of Doom 3. He said that he brought it to linux so fast that he didn't have time to do any optimizing. They're expecting to realease updates sometime soon that will bring Doom 3 on linux up to speed with the windows version.
