Does the new version of KDE have the ability to update CentOS

I would like to know if the new version KDE has the function included to update the system such as CentOS.

Last time I looked only the Gnome desktop could download system updates. If not why did the KDE developers remove this feature, it was there before.

Has this changed?

Why not simply use yum?

yum update

Thanks but no help here.

I haven’t built the Linux system yet and that’s why I’m asking this question.

If KDE doesn’t have the feature to provide system updates, why use KDE.

I know Gnome does but I don’t like Gnome and KDE had a much more function desktop user interface back in the 3.xx days.

kde 3.5 on centos 6.3

the gui should work just fine

if you are using the "experimental" KDE4 repo

then that repo and only that repo should be used
the kde4 install replaces most of the base install of centos 6.3

Thanks John W

I'm really a newbie at this so how do I go about getting KDE 3.5 down when I gen CentOS 6.3?

What should I do first?

using "yum"

first do a group search , then from the list "copy/paste" the group name into yum ( do not forger the "" around the name )

like this

su -
yum grouplist
-----/*- from this output "copy/paste" the group name ---*/---
yum groupinstall "KDE Desktop"
