Does making lvm on logical disks struck XP from installation?

hi everybody,
sorry for this story!
On a new compaq presario V3018TU model, i decided to put both windows and linux.First i started installing windows and it was struck due to corrupted cd.The installation stops only when copying OS files. Then, i successfully installed Windows 2003 server on a primary partition of 8gb.works well but no audio and many drivers missing. It is a 60 gb hard disk.So in the remaining space , i just created extended partition with a number of logical drives leaving a total free space of 18gb in that extended partition. Then i started installing fedora core 4 by making a 100mb logical drive for boot and in remaining space , i made lvm.Fedora works well and no special drivers needed. Next day,i get another xp cd and tried to install but the screen just got blank after displaying few seconds the message,
Windows XP is detecting your computer's hardware configuration...
This is the result for all th xp cd's i tried even for the cd i tried on first day.But at the same time windows 2000 professional and 2003 are capable of getting into installation.i took the notebook to the seller and asked him to install xp on the 8gb primary partition.he had the same problem and he totally deleted all parttions and freshly installed windows xp.
He said installed linux on logical drive was the problem and asked me to install it on a primary partition as well.
Now the xp cd which are not capable before , takes me to installation screen now.some say lvm was the problem
and some other say windows must be installed ahead before installing linux on logical drives or making lvm's (plz dont consider boot loader as an issue!)
people crossed the same problem or having idea, plz say me the technical reason. Thanks for any response and your patience
regards,
V.Nirmal Tom.

I'm running on a dual-boot Debian-with-LVM and XP Professional box right now. However, I installed Windows first as this is easier due to Window's stupidity when it comes to finding an existing OS (MBR bootcode overwrite issue).

I wouldn't be surprized to find out Windows freaks out if it finds some partition type (LVM) that is doesn't understand. Sad, but not surprized. After all, Windows thinks the only thing that exists is Windows.
