Lightbulb Does anybody knows how to start up the CVS?

Anyone can help me?
Hello. I'm just new to use the CVS in my redhat 9.0

There already built in the cvs , (even in redhat7.3, redhat 9.0, but i forget its version). The spported function is also not the same.
Actually i really don't know how to start up the CVS as a running server, after i done the folowing instruction.

The version is just a sample.
1 tar fzxv cvs1.11.5.tar.gz
2 cd cvs1.11.5
3 ./configure
4 make
5 make install

But i don't know how to run the one i installed. Before i just use the built-one in the redhat 9.0

My enviroment is redhat 9.0 now i want to install cvs into redhat 7.3
but i thinkthe redhat7.3's cvs version is older than redhat 9.0

May i know how to start up or others configuration instruction after i make install the cvs.

Anyway thanks for your concerned and your seeing would be apperciated.

do you mean you want to setup a cvs server that you
can log into remotely to get some source code updated,
or are you just trying to use cvs to do something
like downloading mplayer or mozilla source code or
something similar to that?

if the second, the instructions will vary depending on
what you are trying to get. the instructions will be on
the site where the stuff is that you want to get.

Thumbs up

You can write a script as start up service for CVS server to start as follows :

service cvspserver
{
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
wait = no
user = cvs
server = /usr/bin/cvs
server_args = --allow-root=/src/master -f pserver
disable = no
passenv =
}

In the location /etc/xinetd.d, and restart the xinetd service, and you can check the same by telnet 127.0.0.1 2401..... Njoy
