Question Document creation and versioning

Hello All,

I need to create some training documentation on a software program, it needs to be versioned. I am looking for GNU or other opensource licence. It also needs the possibility to copy off so two or more concurrent versions could be active.
What is everybody using?

I would reccomend sphinx doc combined with git. You write the documentation in restructured text then generate the HTML, PDF, or whatever.

Fit is great for versioning you can use branches to deal with multiple versions where the content is different. But if your talking about HTML and PDF versions you can just generate those.

You don't have to use git there are other options like mercurial, cvs, svn, darcs, bazar. Any versioning system will work. I'd reccommend using a distributed version system like git instead of something like cvs or svn.
