Do you know a good mail-server?

Hi!
I want to set up a mailserver on a small LAN with POP3 and SMTP.
I would also appreciate if the server could sort of download mail from another POP3-account on my ISP's server and put them in a specific local mailbox.

Is this possible? Which program is best? All suggestions are welcome!

But does qmail and sendmail really provide a POP3 and SMTP-server so I can send mail to it from another computer? Isn't they only used for local mail-delivery?
