Do I have to recompile Mplayer to add more codecs?

Hello. First, Mplayer is awesome! I installed thw w32codecs to /usr/lib/win32
BEFORE I compiled Mplayer. I want to be able to play some more video types such as Divx or RM files. Question is> Do I have to reconfigure and recompile and reinstall Mplayer to add support for these codecs or just install them and maybe config mplayer to point to their installed locations?

So I mean ... after I install these codecs to their proper places do i have to recompile or run ./configure again?

Yes, its usually best to recompile mplayer so it detects the new codecs you've installed.
