DNS not being seen by outside network
Hello all,
I am currently working on configuring a DNS server for my domain. When I run nslookup locally it replies back successfully, but when I went to another network and ran nslookup the dns server timed out. I turned my firewall off and selinux off to make sure those are not the issue, but still got the same result. Does anyone know what else there is that I should check.<br> I am running Centos 5.3. Any help would be appreciated? |
locally are you using a /etc/hosts file?
|
What does the message log say? ( sudo grep named /var/log/messages ) Are you listening on the outside interface?

Solved The Problem.
The problem was I had specify the ips of my nameservers with another dns configuration. But also I had to wait sometime for the changes to take affect. The error message was DNS Server Timed Out. Thank you all for the speedy responses. It was just a rookie mistake.
