DMA on T43: Hdparm error!!
Here is exactly what happens when trying to enable DMA on my T43 running Fedora Core 5 with GNOME.
#su - #hdparm -d1 /dev/scd0 /dev/scd0 setting to using_dma to 1 (on) HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Function not implemented Whats going on? im running the newest kernel. THe problem happened when my kernel updated itself. I tried to recompile my kernel but the new kernel shows up as 2.17-prep. |

Sounds like it didnt include support for your IDE chipset. While compiling your kernel: In device drivers you'll need to select the appropriate driver for your drive. Also, you'll need to make sure to copy the bzImage to your /boot directory and update your boot manager's config file.
