DivX on Linux

Is there a movie player for Linux that runs DivX AVI files? I have a version of MPlayer that came with SuSE 8.2 and it won't run those files. Any suggestions?

Not sure, but maybe you are missing the right video codec (?)

I think it plays DivX by default, at least the version that you download from the MPlayer homepage does. If not, you can download the win32 codecs, and unpack the codecs to your win32 codec directory, usually /usr/local/lib/win32. If that directory does not exist, then run mplayer from the command line and check the output, there should be a line that says something about "can't find win32 codecs in..." or soemthing like that. Put the codecs in that directory.

don't bother with the win32 codecs, just get a different version of MPlayer as Suse (like Redhat and a few other major players) removed mp3 / divx etc... support from all packages on their releases. just compile the source or install an pm from http://mplayerhq.hu and you'll be able to play any divx fine.

Yeah, I was pretty sure they were enabled by default, when you download the source from the mplayer site. I've never had a problem playing DivX on mplayer, and I have always installed from source.
