download the libraries from here http://ftp3.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/ and install(unpack) them to /lib/win32 .
That at least did it for me. I had problems running divx 5.02 files until i updated those files.

Good luck...

The drawback of having apt-get
What about updating xine and install the last version of mplayer?
(get the latest ones since there's exploits in both of them that are being fixed)

try using divx 4. i remember installing divx5 and xine couldn't play any avi files after that. already had the other codecs installed before trying this upgrade, and i do think that xine doesn't look in /usr/lib/win32 for the divx codec anyway (correct me if i'm wrong). anyway, look for a package named something like divx4linux-4.XXXX. i'm fairly sure that will solve your divx problems.

well,i've installed libxine1-1_cvs-040502.i686.rpm and now I can open divx5 files
but it's strange,'cause this rpm doesn't install any files into /usr/lib/win32
