Distro's dedicated to NCursers, Text Interface or Character Based Interface (CUI)

All,

I am working through setting Linux on RH9. (it's just what I had)

I have Linux server setup in character based mode... it's a P166 with 81meg of RAM.

Linux screams on the machine without the overhead of graphical user interface.

I would like to know if there are some good CUI pull-down type interface applications for Linux. I have Midnight Commander (MC) and it's nice...

* Admin Utilities
* Navigation Utilities
* Editors

I found one program SETUP, which helps setup the RH9 Networking Environment.

What do others use?
Bob

What you're looking for is in Linux referred to as curses based interfaces. Try searching freshmeat.net for "curses" and you'll find all sorts of programs.

You might want to check out the program called "screen" too if you're not already familiar with it. It is incredibly useful and once you start using it you can't go back. It allows for connecting and disconnecting to sessions and running multiple "windows" at the same time.
