Distribution ISO's to DVD

Does anyone know if it is possible to do the following:

Download a distributions (fedora, for example) ISO's and instead of burning them to seperate CD's, extract the ISO's on hard disk first and create an installable, bootable layout to burn to a DVD for use as the installation media?

You can.

You'll need the files from the first disc in /images in order to make the cd bootable (You'll have to specify the bootdisk image in k3b or whatever writer you're using).

You'll also have to modify the installer (anaconda or whatever) so that it expects all the installation files to be in the same place, or so that it mounts each CD's worth of files in the directories where it would normally look.

Burning the DVD would be the easy part. Modifying the installer may not be so trivial.
