Smile Distributed Computing Multiple Computer


I have recently got 5 Computers from a friend which are all the same (Intel 500Mhz 512RAM 10G) i was looking for a way to combine all computers together to make one big "Processor".

Any Ideas what i could use ?

Yes, the OpenMosix project is a very well documented and reliable source for clustering news, community and software. It has all you need.
They even have a introduction for newbies to clustering. You should know that 2.6 kernel support is still beta, and know that many people always find very useful the "openmosix how-to".
ADDED: I don't want to convert this into a war of "what's the best distro" kind; I'll just do a little suggestion for improving speed: Gentoo might be the best choice for that cluster's OS's, but remember 2.6 kernels are beta. And if you are enthusiasthic of Free Software, Ututo is one of the few distributions of GNU/Linux that is endorsed by the Free Software Foundation, and it's Gentoo-based (and also the OS that RMS uses).

Sorry for the delay in getting back, anyway i am in the process of downloading the patch now so i will post back my results.
