distcc compilation gives g++ not found error

Hi all, quick question. Does anyone know why compiling KDE with distcc fails with the error "g++: g++ No such file or directory."? Both PCs are using gcc 3.4.5. I read somewhere that it might have something to do with Libtool but haven't found any answers on how to fix it.

This is a long shot, but look at 1, 2, & 3 at the bottom of this page:

I don't know if any of those are at fault. $KDE_PREFIX comes up blank when I echo it, I'm using gentoo's "emerge" so I'm pretty sure the packages are fresh, and I have no idea what BLFS is. Neither does portage. I should mention that busybox failed with a similar error, only this time it couldn't find i686-linux-pc-gnu-gcc (?!) in one of my remote distcc servers. I know gcc is installed on that one. It is one minor version number different (3.4.6 as opposed to 3.4.5) from localhost. Would this make a big difference? Perhaps I'll try to upgrade to 3.4.6 on the local machine. I'm happy to take more suggestions!
