Display problems of Inspiron 2650 using RHES 3.0

I recently installed redhat ES 3.0 on my Dell Inspiron 2650, with Kenerl 2.4.21. The Kernel seems to recognize the video card as Nvidia Geforce 2 Go, but it reports 'unprobed monitor' in the /etc/X11/XF86Config file. I don't know if this 'unprobed monitor' is the cause, but what I got after installation is that only 3/4 of my 14.1" laptop monitor is used and have graphics, all the remaining area are black region.

I don't know if this is caused by improper configuration or it is related with the hardware. Please help! thanks!!

cheack your 'modes' in the XF86 config file to make sure you have the resolution settings still,

if not add the ones that you want ie

depth '24'
modes '1024x768' '800x600'

then the default will be 1024x768, restart your x server

Aryys, I checked my XF86Config file, the Depth is set to 24 bit as you suggested, and I also put "1024x768" "800x600" on the Modes row.

But when I restart Xwindow, the problem still exists. Any ideas?
