Display Problem with Susu linux

Hi ,

I have PC with suse linux .Resently I configured a NIS client on that PC and after reboot I am getting error" The gdm user does not exist. Please correct the gmd config /etc/opt/gnome/gdm/gdm.conf and restart gdm"
and it gives me prompt .. But now when I try to login using root it won't allow me to login .
Please tell me solution for this and also how to start suse in single user mode at startup.

Thanks,

For single user mode...

At the grub menu, highlight the normal Suse menu item. Then, go to the bottom of the screen and highlight Boot Options and type 1 and press enter.

For mode 3 ( with networking )...
At the grub menu, select the Suse ( Failsafe ) menu item.

Thanks for your reply.
I followed the stapes given by you.
But while entering in single user mode system gives error Su database not found and comes out of single user mode.

Does it is happening as I configured NIS on it.??
