Question Display Manager Woes

mandrake 10.1 official.
Howdy everyone!
Well, I am sorta a linux noob(couple months, but I love it, and am never goin back, even if I can't play my favorite games very well), but I did manage to build and install E17 from Enlightenment.org and all its tools. The main reason i wanted it was the Entrance Display Manager. So now that it is all installed i have tested it (run /usr/bin/entrance) and it works, but I can't figure how to set it to actually be my display manager now. I also have KDE installed and the MdkKDM and can choose those in drakedm, but not Entrance. I have tried editting my /etc/inittab file and also the /etc/sysconfig/desktop file, but to no avail. So can someone tell me what I am missing or doing wrong?
TIA,
Gonz

what are you actaully doing to /etc/sysconfig/desktop?

you could presumably just symlink entrance to /etc/X11/prefdm, which is afaik, the script that picks the DM based on the /etc/sysconfig/desktop file... but that's possibly a one way street and not exactly elegant.

i've not used a DM properly for years now... so can't say exactly how all that stuff works, but reading the prefdm on my old redhat box, i assume that you could put a line "preferred=entrance" in it...prefdm refers to a DISPLAYMANAGER variable, but i don't think that's actually going to be used at all is kde or gnome aren't the desktop of choice... may well be wrong though.
