i like to go for something else. but i could not able to find useful docs on that. like "syg00" suggest "kdump" i searched on google but not able to find good docs.
what are the other good crash dump tool for Linux. please help me...
I have installed 'diskdump' and follow the steps to configure. in the steps it says format the dump partition. so i have created the file system and format with following command.
"service diskdump initalformat".
after that i tried to mount that partition. its say bad file system.
then i added into fstab and reboot the box. it gave FAILD with bad super block and asking me to perform the repiar task by pressing CTL + D, or type the root pwd.
its didnt work. then i removed that entry from fstab file and boot the server. its came up fine. when try to mount that again it says wrong file system, give file type and try.
i gave type: mount -t fat /dev/sda6 ( i gave fat becz it was written on the screen with error)
i tried using ext3, again wrong file system.
when i check under /var/crash, no file was created, i dont know what wrong with that and how to figuer out this.
