disk errors using rsync

Can anyone say if there are any known errors created in allocating disk space using rsync. I have recently setup a small file backup server (2 500GB drives) running Centos 5.2, with a rsync daemon (via xinetd). However I have noticed that after about a week of usage, if I reboot, then the disk that rsync uses, has a lot of multiply claimed block and inode errors that I have to run fsck multiple times to fix. This has happened a couple of times now so I don't think that its random.

Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong.

I've been using rsync for a few years, even with an hourly cron job and have never had a problem. But I don't upgrade to every new release. I think I've only used 3 or 4 versions. Which one are you running now?

I run 3.0.4 on Slack 12.2 and Slamd64 and 2.6.3pre1 on Solaris 10. Using it pretty heavily and no problems on any of my boxes.

However I don't use the daemon mode. You should check rsync's forums or mailing lists to see if anyone else had his problem.

If you have smart-compatible drives you should probably run the self-tests in case it is really a h/w problem.
