I've lately come across a really strange problem on my Gentoo laptop the other day... I rebooted the computer for some reason that I don't recall (unrelated to the problem at hand), and when I restarted Gentoo, the command startkde was gone! Xorg was still there, and according to portage, KDE is also still installed. I don't see how this *disappeared*, considering I didn't even touch any portions of KDE before that reboot... Thus, I can only run X in twm, which kind of makes things difficult... Does anyone have an idea as to where KDE went?

Well, I feel quite stupid now; it turns out that I had unintsalled aRts the other day, which is a base component of KDE, which in turn kept KDE from starting. The only thing I'm confused about is that KDE kept working for a few boots after I uninstalled aRts, and then it just randomly stopped a few boots later. Regardless, reinstalling aRts fixed it, and startkde came back.
